"Inovative Techniques And Technology"

Who are we?

CI Therapy Australia was the first Constraint Induced Movement Therapy programme in Australia.

This training is based on the research work of the CI Therapy Research Group at the Taub Clinic (which operates out of the University of Alabama in Birmingham,USA) and the ground breaking work of Professor Edward Taub.

Constraint Induced Therapy was referred to in book The Brain That Changes Itself by Dr Norman Doidge.

Phillip Fay was the first therapist in Australia to train in Constraint Induced Therapy at the University Of Alabama, Birmingham USA in 2009.

He also trained at the University of Sydney and has 28years’ experience treating stroke and other neurological injuries in Australia and overseas.

This was the first service of its kind in Australia and we have been running successful clinics since 2009. We run clinics for all ages from 12 months of age to 100 years – because our brains never lose the ability to rewire.

At CI Therapy we also provide physiotherapy and speech pathology. We are the first and only service to offer Constraint Induced Movement Therapy for the lower limb and Constraint Induced Language Therapy for aphasia and a new combined programme that combines both upper limb and speech CI programmes.

However, CI Therapy is just one of many therapies available to help with recovery from neurological conditions. We employ other therapies such as Saebo,Robotics,Sensory Rehabilitation,Prism Adaptation Therapy,Electrical Stimulation, and Bi-Manual Therapy to provide a truly comprehensive programme.

So if you or someone you know has suffered a stroke or other neurological injury and is looking to regain independence, you no longer need to fly to the USA. We provide CI Therapy based on the training from the University of Alabama here in Sydney’s Inner West. All of our therapists and assistants have been trained in Constraint Induced Therapy.
